In my interviews with candidates, there are specific questions I always ask regardless of the role they are in.  These are the questions that will lay the foundation for the work we do together.

Luckily for you, I’m going to share those with you today, so you know what to expect during those initial interviews.

  1. Why are you open to having a conversation with me today? – Our “why” is our biggest motivator in life. This will dictate when, how, and where you will make a move to. I want to understand that because whatever we talk about has to make sense for YOU!
  2. Where am I catching you in your interview process? – Timing is everything, and time kills deals.  I want to ensure I am always on top of where you are in other interview processes so I can make sure that if you like my opportunity, we stay competitive from a timing standpoint.
  3. If you were to make a move, what would your ideal next step be/look like? – People who have worked with me before know that I 100% believe that this has to be all about YOU and your career goals.  Yes, I always reach out about a specific role, but what’s most important is that your career goals are in line with the opportunity.  I don’t want to push an opportunity that doesn’t make sense or waste your time with something that isn’t interesting to you.
  4. Titles are different from one company to another, exactly what does your title mean where you are today? – If I am ever unclear or not 100% positive I know what you do on a day-to-day basis I will ask this question.  I will never assume I know what you do or how you feel.
  5. Money isn’t everything, but money sure as hell matters.  What compensation package would you need to hear about in order to make a move? – We all have different spending budgets based on the lifestyle we live, the people we support, and the bills that need to be paid.  I will NOT waste your time if the opportunity I am calling you about doesn’t fall in line with what you need. Money isn’t everything, but it sure as hell matters.

In my first interview with you, if we haven’t spoken before, my goal is just to get to know who you are, what’s most important to you, and to understand if what I have lined up is in alignment.

When working with me you can guarantee that I am in your corner and will make sure that whatever I talk to you about is in YOUR best interest.
